A girlfriend is a female person in a non-marital relationship, which may involve a male (called a boyfriend) or another female, perhaps called a significant other.
The relationship has a continuous, intimite context. In general, a girlfriend will experience a human sexual rapport with her partner, which means they cuddle, kiss, use intimate terms for each other, stroke each other's body parts, and have sexual intercourse. In consensual spanking, a spanker may spank his or her girlfriend in order to bring her to sexual orgasm(s).
Despite the belittling term girl, the word girlfriend can also refer to a woman.
