Uncanny Tales (U.S.)

Uncanny Stories, subtitled "Unusual Gripping Stories", was a one-shot attempt to continue Uncanny Tales (1938-1940), but, unlike its predecessor, it printed both fantasy and science fiction, not just weird/fantasy stories. Neither one was related to the Canadian incarnation of Uncanny Tales which appeared a few years later.
Although the fact that there was some science fiction to be found between the covers would seem to indicate that it was an attempt to capitalize on the science fiction boom of 1938-1941, it was probably too late and the stories were standard fare from the ever-prolific Ray Cummings and Frederic Arnold Kummer, Jr..
The magazine died unlamented.
