The act of going out of bounds can be seen as either leaving an area you are meant to stay in, or entering an area you are not allowed in. Common example: a minor student is required to attend school, so leaving the school property during school hours is said to be out of bounds, likewise entering the school's maintenance area might also be out of bounds.

This is not the same as invasion of privacy as bounds are normally set for safety reasons.
