A towel is a piece of absorbent fabric or paper used for drying or wiping. It draws moisture through direct contact using a blotting or a rubbing motion. There are a variety of towels used for a variety of purposes. Since the end of the 19th century, towels are often made of terrycloth, which can absorb large amounts of water.

Towels in spanking

Towels are most often used to dry off after a bath or shower (see toweling), and bathtime is often connected with spankings. Towels can also be snapped whip-like in order to leave welts on a victim, often on the buttocks region (see towel whipping). Towel snapping is a common locker room activity during puberty.
