Sid Fleischman (born 1920) is a Newbery Medal-winning author of children's books. Among the novels he wrote is The Whipping Boy (1986).
The Whipping Boy
This is a story of Prince Horace (known as Prince Brat behind his back), and his whipping boy, Jemmy. Jemmy is spanked, thrashed, and beaten for every act of misconduct committed by the prince, for it is illegal to spank the prince. However, when the prince decides to run away and forces Jemmy to come with him, the young brat, the tables are turned.
The book is available at ISBN 0-688-06216-4. It was also made into a film, Prince Brat and the Whipping Boy (1994).
