A limb is a jointed appendage of the human or animal body, such as an arm, leg, wing, or flipper. Limbs are mainly used for locomotion or grasping, or both.
In the human body, there are four main limbs (two arms and two legs) which are appended to the torso plus the neck and vestige of the 6th in the tail bone. In addition, one might also consider the fingers "limbs of the hand", and the toes "limbs of the foot".
