Ginger is the common name for the monocotyledonous perennial plant Zingiber officinale. The term is also used to describe the edible part of the plant which is commonly used as a spice in cooking throughout the world. Often referred to as ginger "root", the edible section is actually a rhizome. The ginger plant has a long history of cultivation known to originate in China and then spread to India, Southeast Asia, West Africa, and the Caribbean.

Ginger in BDSM and spanking

Ginger contains substances that create a hot, burning sensation when making contact with mucosa such as the inside of the mouth. This effect is also used in a technique called figging in which a prepared "finger" of ginger root is inserted into the anus, which is popular as a punishment method, particularly in BDSM and in spanking.

Other uses

Ginger can also be a name for a girl, or it can be used to describe reddish orange hair.

A Personal Note from Robin

It should be noted that ginger is inserted into the anuses of horses which pull wagons and coaches (like the ones in Central Park NYC) so they do not defecate quite literally, "in front" of the passengers
