Whenever at times of war or post-war any country maintains prisoner-of-war (POW) camps, there is a high need to maintain camp discipline among the inmates, and a tendency to enforce it with little or no regard to human rights. Among the methods to this end is capital punishment for major and corporal punishment for minor offenses.
Since the prisoners are typically enemy soldiers (or non-combatant enemy personnel), the corporal punishment methods employed in POW camps tend to be extremely harsh, even harsher than those found in normal prisons and in the military. Due to the seriousness of the human rights infractions, POW camp scenarios are rarely eroticized in the BDSM and spanking community.
