Bat Masterson

Bat Masterson was an American Western television series that showed a fictionalized account of the life of real-life marshal/gambler/dandy Bat Masterson. The title character was played by Gene Barry and the half-hour black and white shows ran on NBC from 1958 to 1961. It was produced by Ziv Television Productions, the company responsible for such hit series as Sea Hunt and Highway Patrol.

The show took a tongue-in-cheek outlook, with Barry's Masterson dressed in expensive Eastern clothing and preferring to use his cane rather than a gun to get himself out of trouble (also the case with the real Masterson), hence the nickname "Bat" Masterson. He was also portrayed as a ladies' man who traveled the West looking for women and adventure. The black derby, fancy vest, black jacket, and elegant cane were his trademarks (and were widely marketed in miniature to child viewers as tie-in products during the run of the show).

The program ran for three seasons, from October 1959 until June 1961, a total of 107 episodes.

William S. Hart was a personal friend of the real-life person, Bat Masterson, the person on whom the series is based.

Brunette Bombshell was one episode in the television series, Bat Masterson, first aired on April 1st, 1959.

Masterson owned a building in Denver, which city officials wish to condemn and build a new casino. The Mayor's sister, the Police Commissioner, and other corrupt city officials plan to use dynamite to explode the building at noon on opening day. Masterson gathers all of the city officials in the building to expose those responsible for planting the dynamite. At the last moment, the Police Commissioner breaks down and confesses, and the city officials are taken off to jail.

The Mayor, who was unaware of the ongoing corruption, declares his sister should also be punished. Masterson obliges and takes her into a jail cell to deliver a "over the knee" spanking.
