Adriaen Huybrechts was a Flemish printmaker.
Parts of the broom: three forms of justice
One of Huybrechts's works from 1578, titled "Accipe tres lector triplici sub imagine formas / Justitiae juncti quas monstrant ordine fasces" shows a broom on top, then the three parts from which a broom is made: birch twigs, a stick, and rope. Illustrations show how these three items are used for punishment at different ages:
