Shoes are amongst the most common garments, dating back to pre-historic times. Shoes have traditionally been worn to keep the soles of the foot protected from injury and infection.
In modern times, shoes are often a fashion statement, or else serve a utilitarian purpose, such as exercise or sports. Shoes are part of almost all uniforms. In recent times, shoes have become the subject of a certain fetish. High heeled shoes are also commonly associated with attractiveness in females. The higher the shoe (whilst more uncomfortable), sometimes becomes more attractive. Shoes come in many variations, including with straps, pointed toes, colors, and soles.
