A gimp suit is a garment designed to cover the body completely (usually including the hands and feet) and to be very close-fitting. It often has an attached hood; if not, it will be worn with a bondage hood or gimp mask. It may be made from rubber, PVC, spandex, darlex or leather, although leather (not being stretchy) cannot be as close-fitting as the others.

It differs from a catsuit, unitard or zentai more in its purpose than its appearance. It is used in BDSM to objectify the wearer and reduce him or her to the status of a sexual toy, rather than a sexual partner. Unless there are suitably placed zips, the genitals will be inaccessible while the suit is worn, although they may be felt and manipulated through the material.

Use in films

Two films to feature characters in gimp suits are The People Under the Stairs (1991) and Pulp Fiction (1994).
