Disobedience is the act of failing to obey an order, rule, or command. The term usually implies that the person who gave the order had the legitimate authority to do so, and the person subject to it has an obligation to obey, which was violated by the act of disobedience.

Disobedience is often a reason for (or in roleplay settings an excuse for) punishment.
