World Corporal Punishment Research is a free site with over 2,000 pages of factual documentation and resources on corporal punishment around the world.
The site, started in 1996, is an independent, non-profit work by Colin Farrell and covers corporal punishment (mainly male) throughout the world from history to the present day. It is probably the most comprehensive resource on this subject today.
It covers:
- School corporal punishment
- Judicial corporal punishment
- Prison corporal punishment
- Military corporal punishment
- Parental/Domestic corporal punishment
- Illicit corporal punishment (i.e. workplace birthday spankings, CP within religious sects or cults, college Fraternity and sorority spankings, folkloric traditions, etc.)
The site contains about 4,000 media items from the 17th century to the present, such as newspaper articles, radio and television transcripts, and Internet sources. There are also pictures and feature articles.
The site also includes a school handbooks section with almost 700 external links to the online handbooks of present-day schools, mostly in the U.S., which say they use corporal punishment.
The site does not cover in any way spanking art and spanking fiction, only factual reports.
