Natural rubber is often vulcanized or vulcanised, a process (vulcanization) by which the rubber is heated and sulfur is added to improve resilience and elasticity.

Latex clothing made of vulcanised rubber is much less sticky than ordinary latex clothing. It is thus easier to put on and take off, so it may be possible to dispense with lubricants.
