Old fashioned means "in a way and style that was fashionable or typical decades ago, but is no longer".
People usually have either of two emotional reactions to old-fashioned things.
- First, rejection: there must have been a reason why it came out of fashion and unpoplular, after all.
- Second, romantic transfiguration: The old times (or at least certain aspects of it) that have gone are missed and seen in retrospective as a better, "golden age".
The sentimental longing for old-fashioned things is called nostalgia. Spanking art has a lot to do with the nostaliga for the days in which spanking was a lot more common than today.
