Stereoview
A stereoview or stereogram is a double photograph that creates the illustration of a three-dimensional image. It is a type of stereoscopy.
The two images of a stereoview are slightly different because they were taken from two camera (or lens) positions, in much the same way that the two eyes of a human look at the world from two different positions. When a stereographic picture is viewed, each eye looks at only one of the two pictures. The brain is then able to see the image in 3D.
The stereogram is best viewed in a special viewing apparatus called a stereoscope. With a little practice it is also possible to view a stereogram without any apparatus, using techniques known as wall-eyed and cross-eyed viewing.
Spanking in stereoscopy
Among the motifs not unfrequently found in early stereoscopy (late 19th and eatly 20th century) are child spanking photos that show domestic or occasionally school punishment. These are black and white and, like practically all from that era, posed. They make up a considerable percentage of the spanking photos from that era. The models and the photographers of these stereograms are usually unknown.
