Slaves can be categorized into several groups.
- Houseboys or Service Subs - best described as people who serve in a non-sexual manner.
- Sex slaves - those who serve in a primarily sexual role.
- Pain slaves - those who are primarily interested in pain, and "how much they can tolerate for the sake of their Master or Mistress".

Service subs derive pleasure by providing house work, running errands and other personal tasks.
They seldom develop a personal relationship with their Mistress. Instead, they desire to remain aloof and at emotional "arms length" from the Mistress.
Most wish to wear a collar and be dressed in submissive clothing (female panties only!) while performing these tasks.
