From early on in my personal growth in B/D & S/M. I felt the need to play and communicate with others in the scene. At that time I was living in the New York area and except for some commercial establishments, there wasn't really anything organized going on that was non-commercial. Together with the Hartwells (from SM Express) myself and my wife (Sweet Dee) started the couples club in New York, with the purpose to meet with other couples to play and teach each other new avenues in B/D and S/M. The couples club concept has spread around the country. But accept for the organization in Beaver, Pennsylvania, all these couples club's have turned into somewhat commercial enterprises. In other words these clubs charge admission for their functions, taking away the informal nature of the parties and other functions.
Since I moved to Chicago, myself and my wife have organized a variety of "non-profit" functions for couples. Now with "Leather Underground" we intend to have functions on a regular basis. As I stated before these parties are non-commercial, no fee will be charged. We expect though: that you bring your own booze and a covered dish. We also feel that it is important that you intend to participate in the play activities. If you are reading this but you are single you might feel left out! Don't worry because Leather Underground is going to have get-togethers for singles too. The next meeting is planned for November 10th and anyone who is sincere about his feelings dealing with S/M and B/D is invited to come to this meeting. The principle purpose of these meetings is to meet each other in a t relaxed atmosphere and to introduce you to local Mistresses. We like to see the experienced practitioners to share their knowledge with the novices. We do not guarantee that on the single events play will go on, but if something get started we are not going to stop it! We hope that others around the country will follow us in getting things started in their community. So far, we have gotten many calls from individuals requesting information regarding activities in their community. It is sad that often there are non! If you want to take the initiative to get a non-commercial club (couples and/or singles) in your community we will take you under our umbrella and help you getting it of the ground!
